Archers make use of Lakeside s new archery range at Kumeyaay Valley County Park Photo courtesy of County News Center San Diego County has opened its new outdoor archery range at Kumeyaay Valley County Park in Lakeside Located at Ashwood Street the new facility fills a population need for constituents outdoor ranges in the region to backing both beginner and competitive-level archery training The self-regulated range is open from a m to sunset and features shooting lanes designed for different skill levels It is fully ADA-compliant with accessible footpaths parking shooting lanes and restrooms Nicholas North is a former Navy SEAL who has embraced adaptive archery If people think their lives are over they re not he reported as he used a wheelchair at the range There are things they can do Archery s just one of them but archery s the one I use The park was selected because of its location There are now no inhabitants outdoor archery ranges in East County The new venue where administrators hosted a grand opening Wednesday attracting North and top-level competitive archers will increase access to the sport and reduce passage times agents declared We re so excited to be bringing this new and much anticipated archery range to East County explained Supervisor Joel Anderson It will continue to enhance our region by providing all residents with a new outdoor space to engage in this sport Parks and Recreation staff engaged with local archery advocacy groups including clubs industry professionals and the Lakeside Group Planning Group to create an amenities list for the range This feedback was used to guide the enhancement and concept plan for the project
